The Global Design Effort completes its mandate in style and substance

| 13 June 2013 The Global Design Effort has completed its mandate to produce a technical design for the ILC. Yesterday’s official handover of the Technical Design Report to ICFA was the culmination of a celebratory three continent event this week. The discovery of the Higgs particle at the LHC at CERN, the production of a viable design for a complementary electron-positron linear collider and the interest of the Japanese in hosting this machine combine to greatly encourage our communities’ hopes and dreams of building the ILC. A second snapshot of the evolving TDR draft

| 11 October 2012 The Technical Design Report will be the culmination and final deliverable for the ILC Global Design Effort. The report will be submitted in near final form to the ILC Program Advisory Committee in November for technical review in December at KEK. The drafting of the report has been under way since last spring. The GDE Executive Committee recently performed a critical review of a second snapshot of the evolving TDR draft. GDE Executive Committee visits Jefferson Lab

Images: Jefferson Lab | 23 February 2012 Charles Reece, deputy director of Jefferson Lab’s Institute for Superconducting Radiofrequency Science and Technology, leads GDE Executive Committee members on a tour of the new facilities that will be available upon completion of the Technology and Engineering Development Facility, a $72 million structure that will keep the lab in the forefront of SRF developments. John Hogan, Jefferson Lab SRF Cryomodule Production Leader, shows GDE Executive Committee members the sixth C100 cryomodule (of ten) being produced at Jefferson Lab as part of the lab's 12 GeV CEBAF Upgrade Project. This cryomodule is at the cold-mass assembly stage and Hogan is discussing the integrated design of the components as they relate to overall cryomodule performance. Members of the GDE Executive Committee pause during a tour of Jefferson Lab's Institute for Superconducting Radiofrequency Science and Technology for a group photo between two C100 cryomodules being built for Jefferson Lab's 12 GeV Upgrade.
