Linear collider researchers meet for five days this week in the grand Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos in Granada, Spain for the second International Workshop on Future Linear Colliders. Though a few local newspaper headlines would have readers believe that LCWS11 scientists debated the true velocity of muon neutrinos, conference attendees were far more interested in the particulars of the next precision particle collider. The conference organisers and its host, Universidad de Granada, also put together a vibrant social programme that included a public lecture by LAL Orsay's François Richard titled, "Viaje al corazón de la materia," and a visit to the grand, ornate Alhambra palace. Which is the right word to complete this series: KEK, Snowmass, Hamburg, ... ? Chicago of course! After the first three venues, the fourth General ILC Workshop (ILC08) will take place in Chicago this year, organised in conjunction with the 2008 Linear Collider Workshop LCWS. As in the past, the workshop is supposed to bring detector and accelerator communities together. Results and plans from both worlds will be discussed in several joint plenary sessions.

"The most important skill of any secretary is to know the experts. You don't have to be able to do everything yourself, but you have to know who to ask!" Ramona Matthes is a secretary at DESY and together with two colleagues and a couple of scientists form the core of the local organising committee for the Linear Collider Workshop and GDE meeting that will take place at DESY from 30 May to 4 June 2007. In physicists' terms it is far too early to even think about this meeting, but in administrative terms the organising team did well to start in August last year – organising a meeting for up to 800 people isn't done in a couple of weeks, and there are many major and minor things that all have to work once the hordes of participants arrive. With three GDE meetings each year and many others at the side, every region of the ILC has learnt this, sometimes the hard way.
