Of complete DBD drafts, reviews and the future

| 6 December 2012 The draft of the Detailed Baseline Design report (DBD) of ILC physics and detectors is complete and has been submitted to the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) of the ILC Steering Committee (ILCSC) for review. What are the technological milestones that have been achieved? Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , , ,

Community spirit helps us achieve our milestones

| 20 September 2012 The two volumes of the Detailed Baseline Design report, which will be published alongside the Technical Design Report, are ready in draft form. They will now be submitted to the physics and detectors’ advisory group IDAG. A lot has been accomplished in the R&D process for the ILC detectors, and it’s thanks to the community’s spirit and determination that we have achieved our milestones. We look forward to taking on the next challenge. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , , ,

In front of the door to a new world

| 26 July 2012 The discovery of the Higgs-like particle at the LHC is exciting news for the whole community. The physics-and-detetor Detailed Baseline Design report, along with a sound physics case that allows studies of and beyond the Standard Model, is on the to-do list and must be finished when more definite news about the particle come out. Encouraging news from CERN

| 5 July 2012 We in the ILC Research Directorate are thrilled with the announcement from CERN this week that a Higgs-like particle has been discovered. The Higgs particle has been a target of our experiments for over decades, and the affirming news from LHC finally means a great step forward. I wish to congratulate CERN and all physicists who contributed to this success. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , , , , ,

Marking our progress – Detailed Baseline Design report

| 17 May 2012 During ACFA KILC12 workshop in Daegu last month ILC, the International Detector Advisory Group gave useful insight and recommendations to the Detailed Baseline Design report working group, paving the way to the report completion by the end of 2012. Towards a single directorate for ILC and CLIC physics and detectors studies

| 15 March 2012 The ILC Steering Committee is now considering a new organisation for a linear collider project that includes both the ILC and CLIC programmes, in view of their individual progress and the cooperation between them, and it envisions a merger of physics and detector activities. It is a challenge to create a new mechanism that will satisfy all parties, but we should try hard to find one. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , ,

Design report in the making: drafting the DBD

| 19 January 2012 The year 2012 will be very busy and exciting. The main task for the ILC physics and detector community is to complete Detailed Baseline Design report summarising our effort since 2007. To achieve this goal, coordination between the detector groups and with the Global Design Effort is essential, and we are fulfilling this mission. Progress made during LCWS11 in Granada

| 20 October 2011 This year's linear collider workshop was a time of fruitful discussion and planning. Key discussions helped shape the near future in the period before the release of the detailed baseline design. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: ,

Important meetings to come, important discussions to happen

| 21 July 2011 The high-energy physics community is gearing up to learn the latest from the world’s large particle colliders, to be presented at conferences this summer. The reports may guide the future efforts of the ILC community coming after the detector community’s detailed baseline design. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , ,
