Validation made of the Letters of Intent

| 17 September 2009 (...) The conclusion is that the International Large Detector concept (ILD) and the Silicon Detector Design Study concept (SiD) are recommended for validation as complementary detectors to go on with detailed design and that the dual-readout calorimeter technology is encouraged to be further developed. -- By Sakue Yamada Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: ,

Planning for the next steps

| 20 August 2009 (...) It is time for us to prepare for the next step, namely to consider what the validated detector groups need to accomplish through the following period, till 2012. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: ,

Detector activities reviewed by the PAC

| 18 June 2009 On 9 and 10 May, the second review meeting of the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) of the ILC was held in Vancouver. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , ,

Letters of Intent were submitted

| 16 April 2009 The three ILC detector concept groups, ILD, SiD and 4th, submitted their Letters of Intent (LOIs) by the due date, 31 March. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , ,

What’s going on in the Physics and Experiment Board meeting

| 19 February 2009 Since the LCWS08 meeting in Chicago, the management mechanism for the ILC detector activities is working in its full shape. The most important body for communication and decision making is the Physics and Experiment Board (PEB). It is composed of the representatives of the Letter of Intent (LOI) groups, the conveners of the common task groups and the Executive Board members. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: ,

Common task groups are underway

| 18 December 2008 The detector management scheme began to move in full size since the 2008 Linear Collider Workshop (LCWS08) in Chicago. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged:

LCWS08

| 20 November 2008 The LCWS08 and ILC 08-workshops are going on in Chicago right now. For many years, the LCWS workshops have brought together the physics and detector communities to discuss recent advances relevant to the linear collider. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged:

All common task groups are ready to start

| 16 October 2008 Following the discussions with the representatives of the groups preparing the letters of intent (LOI) and the members of the common task groups during the European Committee for Future Accelerators (ECFA) workshop in Warsaw, we have been working to reinforce the two common task groups, the detector R&D Panel and the Physics Panel, by inviting more members outside the LOI group community. My tribute to Yoji

| 17 July 2008 Arriving at DESY last Thursday, I heard the sad news of Yoji from home. This reminded me of the most enjoyable days I had in physics with him here at DESY...

The first IDAG meeting in Warsaw and common task groups

| 17 July 2008 The first meeting of International Detector Advisory Group (IDAG) for the ILC detectors was held in Warsaw during the ECFA Linear Collider workshop on 9 and 10 June. There were both open and closed sessions. The closed meeting became a good chance for the IDAG members to meet with each other, the Letter-of-Intent (LOI) representatives and research directorate members in order to share their views as to what their tasks are and how the validation process can be made.
