The year 2018 will indeed be a milestone year for both the International Linear Collider ILC and the Circular Electron Positron Collider in China, two complementary Higgs factories. Gao Jie, linear collider researcher and chair of the Asia Linear Collider Steering Committee proposes a historical recall of the two projects.

With the discovery of the Higgs particle at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in July 2012, after more than 50 years of searching, particle physics has finally entered the era of the Higgs, and the door for human beings to understand the unknown part of the Universe is wide open, says Jie Gao from IHEP in Beijing, China.

On 3 September, the Asia-Pacific High Energy Physics Panel (AsiaHEP) and Asian Committee for Future Accelerators (ACFA) jointly issued a statement that the ILC is the most promising electron positron collider to achieve the objectives of next-generation physics.
