Forming a united front of the LC physics and detector community

| 21 March 2013 Recently appointed Associate Director for Physics & Detectors in the new Linear Collider structure, Hitoshi Yamoto discusses his mandate and solicits inputs from the linear collider community. Category: Director's Corner | Tagged: , , , ,

How to make the ILC truly international

| 18 October 2012 In order for an international project like the ILC to succeed, being able to construct the accelerator itself is not enough. To make the future ILC city an attractive and comfortable place to come and stay for a prolonged period, it is also critical that the site is geologically sound and that the living conditions of the staff and their families are agreeable. The Higgs mandate

| 16 February 2012 One of the primary goals of the next global ILC workshop in Daegu, Korea, in April 2012 is to clarify the physics mandate of the ILC corresponding to narrowed-down physics scenarios, based in particular on LHC results from the Higgs boson search. The gift of research rises from the rubble

| 16 June 2011 Hitoshi Yamamoto offers a personal account of his navigation through the chaos brought on by shutdowns of transportation systems, electrical grids and running water immediately following the March earthquake. Amid the confusion, he remained mindful of the work of the ILC, resulting in welcome news for detector research. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , ,

ILC and Super KEKB

| 18 November 2010 Even though additional funds are needed to complete the Super KEKB upgrade, th[e MEXT funding appropriation] signaled an essential go-ahead for the project, clearing the way for the ILC. Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , , ,

Uniting machine and detectors

| 18 March 2010 A joint international linear collider workshop, LCWS10 and ILC10, will be held in Beijing from 26 to 30 March. LCWS10 is organised by the World Wide Study of the Physics and Detectors for future linear e+ e- colliders (WWS) representing the physics and detector efforts, while ILC10 is organised by the Global Design Effort (GDE) covering the accelerator efforts. Linear collider detector development

| 22 October 2009 I have just attended the CLIC09 workshop at CERN.... A large fraction of work done on physics and detectors is common to both CLIC and ILC, and ILC detectors are already benefitting from CERN expertise in detector integration and push-pull design. --By Hitoshi Yamamoto Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: ,

Physics and detectors at TILC09

| 19 March 2009 There will be a joint ACFA Physics and Detector Workshop and GDE Meeting 17 to 21 April. (...) In this note, let us focus on the physics and detector part of the workshop... Category: Research Director's Report | Tagged: , , ,
