Hitoshi Yamamoto | 18 October 2012In order for an international project like the ILC to succeed, being able to construct the accelerator itself is not enough. To make the future ILC city an attractive and comfortable place to come and stay for a prolonged period, it is also critical that the site is geologically sound and that the living conditions of the staff and their families are agreeable.

Sakue Yamada | 20 September 2012The two volumes of the Detailed Baseline Design report, which will be published alongside the Technical Design Report, are ready in draft form. They will now be submitted to the physics and detectors’ advisory group IDAG. A lot has been accomplished in the R&D process for the ILC detectors, and it’s thanks to the community’s spirit and determination that we have achieved our milestones. We look forward to taking on the next challenge.

Sakue Yamada | 26 July 2012The discovery of the Higgs-like particle at the LHC is exciting news for the whole community. The physics-and-detetor Detailed Baseline Design report, along with a sound physics case that allows studies of and beyond the Standard Model, is on the to-do list and must be finished when more definite news about the particle come out.

Sakue Yamada | 5 July 2012We in the ILC Research Directorate are thrilled with the announcement from CERN this week that a Higgs-like particle has been discovered. The Higgs particle has been a target of our experiments for over decades, and the affirming news from LHC finally means a great step forward. I wish to congratulate CERN and all physicists who contributed to this success.

Jim Brau | 28 June 2012The new Linear Collider Organisation is being planned with a united ILC and CLIC physics and detector effort. This is a natural step, but the devil is in the details. While there has been a lot of fruitful collaboration in the past, there also remain differences that must be considered.
