Winner of a Humboldt Professorship, Brian Foster has just taken up his work at DESY and University of Hamburg as a joint professor for experimental physics, focusing on accelerators for very high energies. He intends to spend the 5 million Euros for five years to the greatest effect, and the ILC will play a very strong part in his plans.

By governance we mean all the disparate elements required to found a convincing ILC laboratory organisation, with clear aims, transparent and accountable management and supportive governments and funding agencies. It forms an essential part of the overall "Project Implementation Plan"...

...I am... [at] the "Accelerators for America's Future" meeting held in Washington, D.C. and sponsored by the US Department of Energy. The meeting is intended to raise the profile and set the strategy for the future of accelerator physics in the US. The morning's talks have been in turn illuminating, amusing, and infuriating.

On Tuesday a momentous meeting for the future of the ILC began in Valencia. Under cloudy skies and occasional rain, the ILC family has gathered for one of its tri-annual joint meetings, reviewing progress and the status following the Vancouver meeting last July.
