A Spanish Japanese Collaboration in industry and science? Yes, a collaboration which just took another important step to strengthen this relationship at May 13th at the Collaboration Opportunities on Fusion and Accelerator Technologies and Projects workshop at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo. Tohru Takahshi from Hiroshima University attended this workshop and offers his impressions about the actual developments and relations between Japan and Spain. In his short review of this event he included many details about the speakers, the Spanish Japanese History and of course a short look in further events.

Frank words from the Americas Regional Director Harry Weerts: decisions about global science projects aren’t taken by scientists. They are taken by politicians. The world’s roadmaps for the future of particle physics may recommend a linear collider in Japan, but it also needs to find its way into the world’s science budgets in order to proceed.

Right after the Asian Linear Collider Workshop (ALCW) 2015 and ILC Tokyo Event, another big milestone for the ILC happened in the United States. From 26 to 30 April, three members of the Diet and members of Japan’s Federation of Diet Members for Promotion of the ILC, Takeo Kawamura, Ryu Shionoya and Shun-ichi Suzuki visited Washington D.C., to meet with their American counterparts to discuss the ILC.

At the ILC Tokyo Symposium, held on 22 April 2015 at the Ito International Hall, Tokyo, Japan, the Linear Collider Collaboration (LCC) and the more than 300 participants from around the world at the Asian Linear Collider Workshop (ALCW) 2015 decided to issue a statement confirming their conviction of the scientific justification for a prompt realisation of the International Linear Collider (ILC).

Japanese businesspeople and scientists gathered in Tokyo last week to attend the general meeting of the Advanced Accelerator Association Promoting Science and Technology, which is now a general incorporated association. At this occasion, three special lectures were given Lyn Evans, Hitoshi Murayama and Sachio Komamiya from the Linear Collider Collaboration and Board. The Japanese science community will closely collaborate with the association in the future towards the realisation of the ILC.

After the official handover ceremony of the TDR draft in Tokyo last Saturday, ILC experts, policy makers and members of industry discussed the potential of building the ILC in Japan. One conclusion was that physicists from all over the world would be welcome in Japan, even though they may be considered strange by some.

On 24 October, a symposium to boost activities to invite the ILC to Japan was held at Tokyo University, Tokyo, Japan. This event received great attention. One of the reason was CERN's Director-General Rolf Heuer's talk, which was delivered for the first time in Japan since the discovery of Higgs-like particle in July.

Particle cartoons, enticing images, animations and lots and lots of information – that’s what a new website dedicated to the ILC in Japan offers its visitors to help them learn more about the ILC and particle physics. Created by the Advanced Accelerator Association promoting science and technology, it went live on Monday this week.

Realising a big international project such as International Linear Collider involves many issues beyond finalising the technical design. The Advanced Accelerator Association promoting science and technology, Japan's industry-academia collaboration towards the realisation of the ILC, recently published a report to address such issues.
